Krush.150 - 2023-06-16
Korakuen Hall, Bunkyo, Tokyo, Japan
The main event today features an immediate rematch from the main event of Krush 145 in January. At the time of the event, Osawa defended his belt by earning a 3-0 decision (30-28, 30-28, 29-28) over Satomi off the strength of a first round knockdown by Osawa. After the bout, however, the K-1 officials ruled that Osawa hooked Satomi’s leg and disrupted his balance as he landed the blow that caused the knockdown, so the result of the bout was changed to a No Contest. As such “Stardust Lefty” Yuzuki Satomi gets another shot at Fumiya “Bad Guy” Osawa’s Krush Lightweight title. In addition to the recent meeting, Osawa had defeated Satomi previously in June 2019 by close decision on a 3-0 set of 30-29 scores.
K-1 Basics: Most fights are 3 3-minute rounds with a single 3-minute extra round if it’s a draw. 3 knockdowns in a round is a TKO, or 2 if it’s a one-night tournament fight. Judges are fairly liberal with 10-10 round scoring, so you will often see fights scored 30-30 or 30-29. Official rules state that the judges must pick a winner at the end of the extra round, including looking back on the earlier rounds of the fight if necessary. Kickboxing rules: knees are legal, elbows are not. Clinch must be broken with an immediate strike or the ref will separate, and fighters are not allowed to pull the neck of the opponent down to deliver a strike.
Fights highlighted in bold were ones that I found particularly entertaining.
